How to Naturally Dye Easter Eggs

As part of Rosalie Bay’s holistic approach to health and well-being, we challenge you to dye your Easter eggs with natural ingredients.

Naturally Dyed Easter Eggs

Natural Ingredients

Many of the ingredients used to achieve vibrant colors can be found in our property’s organic garden! In addition to one dozen hard-boiled eggs, you’ll need:

REDDying Easter Eggs - Red

  • 2 cups beet, grated
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar

 

Dying Easter Eggs - RedYELLOW

  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar

 

Dying Easter Eggs - BlueBLUE

  • 2 cups purple cabbage, shredded
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar

 

Dying Easter Eggs - GreenLIGHT GREEN

  • 10 oz. spinach leaves
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar

 

Dying Easter Eggs - OrangeORANGE

  • 2 cups yellow onion peel
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar

 

 

Easter Egg BasketDirections

  1. Combine two cups water and dye materials in individual saucepans. Bring to a boil, and then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes to one hour. The longer the dye material is simmered, the darker the dye will become.

  2. Remove from heat and strain out the liquid through a fine mesh strainer. Cool to room temperature, and stir in vinegar.

  3. Place hard-boiled eggs into glass containers and soak until your desired color is reached. For the most vibrant colors, place the container in refrigerator for up to 12 hours.
