Wellness Wednesday: Eat Your Fruits and Veggies

Dominica wellness resortWeekly tips to bring island-inspired wellness into your everyday life from the wellness and spa team at Rosalie Bay Resort. Post written by Spa and Wellness Coordinator Laura Lund.

If you have been reading our blog posts on Wellness Wednesdays you may have noticed a common theme among the fruits and vegetables posted. All fruits and vegetables are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. The trick is to eat more of them to improve your health and prevent disease. They help prevent cancer, regulate blood sugar, prevent heart disease, diabetes, and keep the body fit and healthy.

So, how many should you eat each day?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we all need to eat more fruits and vegetables. In fact, at every meal, they should account for half the food on your plate. Try to get a variety of colors, as this offers different nutrients and helps provide a balanced diet.

Join us at Zamaan Restaurant where we make it easy for you to eat healthy while enjoying delicious food. Wherever possible, our talented Dominican cook, Seraphine Hector, uses fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs from our organic garden. This photo shows just some of the goods from a trip to the garden just last week.
